Men's polo made of Softfun
By ScheepjesMaterials: Scheepjes Softfun dark blue (2401) 6–7–7 balls, orange (2449) 2 balls, white (2412) 1–2–2 balls, 2 buttons, size 3 ½ knitting needles.
Gauge: 21 sts and 30 rows in Stockinette st = 10 x 10 cm. Take time to check gauge and switch needles if necessary.
Stitches:
2x2 Ribbing: alternately K2 and P2.
Stockinette st: on right side knit, on wrong side purl.
Directions:
Back: Using orange cast on 114–122–130 sts and work 4 cm in 2x2 Ribbing, in the last wrong side row evenly decreasing to obtain 111–119–127 sts. Using dark blue continue to work in Stockinette st. When work measures 37 cm set up the following stitch pattern: 4 rows using white, 10 rows using orange, 10 rows using white, 10 rows using orange and 4 rows using white. Now work straight using dark blue.
Armhole shaping: when work measures 47 cm bind off 3 sts at both edges, continue to bind off 2 times 2 and 2 times 1 st at both edges, every following 2 rows. Neckline shaping: when work measures 64–65–66 cm bind off the center 19–21–23 sts and finish each half separately. At neck edge continue to bind off 2 times 6 sts, every following 2 rows. Shoulders: when work measures 66–67–68 cm bind off the rem 25–28–31 sts.
Front: Work same as back until you reach the last white wrong side row of the last white stripe. Front opening: In this wrong side row bind off the center 9 sts and finish each half separately. Neckline shaping: when work measures 57–58–59 cm bind off 7–8–9 sts and at neck edge continue to bind off 1 time 3, 2 times 2 en 3 times 1 st, every following 2 rows. Shoulder: bind off the rem 25–28–31 sts at the same length as back.
Sleeves: Using orange cast on 62–66–70 sts and work 4 cm in 2x2 Ribbing. Using dark blue continue to work in Stockinette st. Sleeve width: increase 8 times 1 st at both edges, every 5 rows.
Sleeve cap: when work measures 20 cm bind off 3 sts at both edges, continue to bind off at both edges 2 times 2, 8 times 1, 1 time 2 and 1 time 3 sts, every following 2 rows. Bind off the rem 38–42–46 sts.
Finishing: Sew shoulder seams. Using white pick up 94–98–102 sts along neck edge and work 3 cm in 2x2 Ribbing. Bind off in 2x2 Ribbing. Using white pick up 28–30–32 sts along right edge of opening and work 4 cm in 2x2 Ribbing. Bind off in 2x2 Ribbing. Work a second band along left edge of opening, including 2 evenly spaced buttonholes at 2 cm total height. To make a buttonhole bind off 1 st and cast it on again in the next row. With left band overlapping right band, neatly sew bottom ends of bands to front. Sew in sleeves matching center of sleeve to shoulder seam. Sew underarm seams. Sew side seams, leaving the bottom 10 cm unsewn for side openings.
